Chifubu residents welcome solar street lights


Chifubu Residents are happy with the government’s decision to put up solar street lights in the area to tighten security.

The residents applauded the government for embarking on such a project adding that the street lights would provide safety to the residents and beautify the area. 

Speaking to ZANIS today, John Bwalya a resident said street lights provide safety for pedestrians, drivers, and all road users.

“Putting up of Street lights will help to reduce crime in our area, we are very happy that our streets will no longer be a danger to the residents,” he said.

Another resident Chimwemwe Mutale added that the project was an indication that government was listening to the plight of the people. 

“We thank our government for coming up with such an initiative which is going to benefit the people of Chifubu, our community is looking beautiful at night and we are even feeling safe walking at night,” she said. 

And Chifubu ward councilor Friday Sikazwe says the project was being done using ward development fund. 

He said the project aims at powering all the major roads in the ward in an effort to provide safety to the residents. 

“We, therefore, urge the residents to guard these properties jealously and avoid vandalizing them, because this is benefiting not only the residents but also the city as a whole, ” Mr. Sikazwe said.
