Government has given the youths of Shibuyunji district in Central province a K3.2 million loan under the multi-sectoral loan youth empowerment programme.
Shibuyunji District Commissioner Jairos Simukoko told ZANIS in an interview that the funds will be invested in various enterprises.
Mr. Simukoko said over 20 youth cooperatives had been approved to benefit from the funds.
He said among the projects to be undertaken using the funds include the purchase of a fuel tanker, hardware shop, poultry business and various cooperative ideas that would be established.
“The money that has been injected in Shibuyunji economy will create jobs that will benefit most youths in the district and will reduce poverty as it will keep the youths busy,” Mr. Simukoko said.
He has since urged the youths to take advantage of the funds and put the loan to good use.
“The youths should put the money which they have received through their cooperative into good use as this is not the last of this kind of project, many more are coming,” he said.
