Lungu Royal Establishment vows to back President Lungu’s administration


The Lungu Royal Establishment has pledged its indelible support to President Lungu’s administration in order to spearhead development in the chiefdom.

Senior Chief Tafuna of Mpulungu said traditional leaders in the Lungu land have resolved to support the developmental agenda that the government is spearheading in their areas.

ZANIS reports that Senior Chief Tafuna said it is also gratifying to see that the Patriotic Front (PF) under the leadership of President Edgar Lungu has initiated a number of developmental projects across the country.

He has since reiterated his commitment and that of the establishment in working with  President Lungu’s administration.

“We will always support the government developmental programs meant to uplift the wellbeing of the people in our land,” he explained.

Senior Chief Tafuna said this during the Lungu Royal Establishment conference that was held at the Mulunda Chalo Palace of Chief Mukupa Kaoma in Lunte district.

The meeting was attended by Lungu chiefs and their indunas from Lunte, Mpulungu, Mbala and Senga districts of Northern Province.

And Chief Chitoshi who is the spokesperson of the establishment also emphasized the need for peace and unity among the Lungu chiefs and their subjects.

Calling for peaceful campaigns ahead of the general election slated for August 12, 2021, the traditional leader said the establishment will not condone any violence from their subjects as the country goes to the polls.

“My appeal is to all our subjects in the Lungu land that we want to see peace and unity, we do not want to see any bloodshed in our land because of politics” he said.

Chief Chitoshi who is also a member of the House of Chiefs in Northern Province stated that unity is cardinal for the development of chiefdoms emphasising that there is need for electorates to uphold peace as the country goes to the polls. 

And Justin Chongo, a resident in Lunte District, has called on other Lungu’s from other parts of the country to consider working together to develop the area.

Mr Chongo noted that Lunte has great potential in agriculture and aquaculture sectors stating that it can contribute significantly to the country’s food basket.

“Lunte district is endowed with so many natural resources that can make the area to be a food basket and contribute to the economic development of the chiefdom and the country at large,” he added.

Meanwhile, Mulenga Chitoshi , has expressed happiness that the PF government strives to improve the welfare of traditional leaders and that of the people in the country.

Dr. Chitoshi, who is the young brother to Chief Chitoshi,  aid it is gratifying that the Lungu Royal Establishment is devoted to work with the PF government.

“Traditional leaders have always played a significant role in the PF’s development agenda,” he added.
