Nkana Football Club President Patrick Silwamba has refuted several media reports that striker Idris Mbombo has joined another team.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with ZANIS in Lusaka today, Silwamba said Mbombo has not joined any club and that the Congolese striker is still at the Busakile based football Club.
“Mbombo is still at Nkana, however, there are a couple of offers for him from different clubs, but we have not finalized on his next move,” Silwamba explained.
And Silwamba has expressed optimism that Nkana will go in the Confederation Cup competition (CAF) for a win and progress to the group stage.
But Football analyst, Puncherello Chama, has argued that it will be very difficult for Nkana to play in the CAF games without the services of their top striker Mbombo.
“Yes other players will replace him, but at the moment Nkana might fail to go through the CAF group stage without Mbombo,” Chama explained.
Mbombo who re-joined Nkana in July 2019 on a two-year contract from Sudanese side AL Hilal has been instrumental for the Kitwe side, helping them win the 2019/2020 Super League title, but some media reports are saying that Nkana have decided to allow the player to join the Egyptian side.
Nkana is drawn with TAS Casablanca of Morocco who they will face in their pre-group stage.
