WWF partner with stakeholders in addressing environmental conservation

The World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) has joined forces with the Capital Markets Association of Zambia to find common ground on ways of addressing environmental conservation in the country.

WWF Corporate Engagement Manager, Fungai Musana says nature based solutions are needed to avert environmental matters, stating that the financial community is key in approaching challenges in a holistic manner.

He was speaking at a joint media briefing with Capital Markets Association of Zambia in Lusaka today to announce the Nature Based Solutions Investment Forum slated for next month in Livingstone.

Mr Musana said ensuring the financial sector is well equipped to play a vital role in environmental conservation is critical.

“Aligning the financial sector with a sustainable future will bring real benefits for the environment and society,” he said.

He said investors and the business community alike need to understand the full range of environmental risks by being equipped with information.

“We as WWF have been a strong advocate for disclosing climate related financial risks in a timely and decision relevant manner,” Mr Musana said.

And Capital Markets Association of Zambia Vice President, Tidale Chisunka said the forum will seek to appreciate key financing opportunities and the regulatory framework in Zambia’s green financing agenda.

Ms Chisunka said the forum will attract multi sectoral array of participants.

“The conference is about to bring together minds from various stakeholders to come and deliberate, brainstorm, educate and learn through the various discussions during the event,” she said.

The forum will run from June 2, through to June 4, 2022 in Livingstone.
