A 25-year old man of Mawaya compound in Zimba district, Southern Province has allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself from the roof of his house.
Both Zimba Police Office In-charge Benson Simpasa and mother to the deceased Namusho Situtu confirmed the incident to ZANIS in Zimba.
The victim has been identified as Charles Muzinga of Simasiku village, Mongu district, Western Province who used a mosquito net to cut his life short.
The incident occurred today at 12-00 hours when Charles was found hanging with a rope around his neck in the house after coming back from a drinking spree.
“The incident occurred today, at 12:00 hours at the house of the deceased person, Charles came from a drinking spree in town and shortly, committed suicide by hanging himself using a mosquito net in the one-roomed house where he stays,” his mother Ms. Situtu narrated.
And Zimba Police Officer In-charge Benson Simpasa stated that police inspected the deceased’s body and the tongue was found protruding.
Mr Simpasa said the body of the deceased has since been deposited at Zimba Mission hospital mortuary.
“Police Officers visited the scene of the incident and inspected the body of the deceased. Upon inspection, Charles’ body is lying at Zimba Mission hospital mortuary,” he said.
The deceased has left behind a wife and an 18-month old baby.
