58 years old man beaten to death

A 58 year old man of Nsami village in Mafinga District in Muchinga Province has been beaten to death by an unknown male person.

Vasco Simfukwe aged 57 of Nsami village reported that Maxwell Sikanyika aged 58 of the same village was beaten to death by an unknown male person who allegedly used a blunt object in the act.

Muchinga Province Deputy Police Commanding Officer, Lucky Munkondya, has confirmed the incident to the Zambia News and Information Services (ZANIS) in a press statement today.

Ms. Munkondya said the matter was reported to Mafinga Police Station on September 13, 2022 at 05:00 hours while the incident occurred on September 12, 2022 at around 16:00 hours at Nsami village, in Mafinga District.

“Brief facts of the matter are that, on September 12, 2022 at around 16:00hrs the wife to the deceased Jennifer Mugala aged 46 of Nsami village went to the hammer meal leaving her husband Maxwell Sikanyika aged 58 alone at home,” Ms. Munkondya said.

She added. “As the wife was approaching her house on her way back, she saw an unknown male person dressed in black beating her husband using unknown object and as she drew nearer, she saw the same person entering her house and collected a solar panel before running away leaving her husband in a pool of blood,”

Ms. Munkondya further explained that the wife of the now deceased immediately reported the matter to the Community Crime Prevention Unit (CCPU) member identified as Vasco Simfukwe who in turn reported the matter to Mafinga Police Station.

She indicated that officers who immediately visited the scene found the body of the deceased facing downwards with the head in a pool of blood. 

Ms. Munkodya said officers also observed that the deceased body had three deep cuts on the head and one cut on the eyebrow.

The body of the deceased is lying in Isoka District Hospital Mortuary awaiting post-mortem while investigations into the matter are underway.
