Stay away from girl child, Milenge newly recruited teachers warned

Milenge Town Council Chairperson, Clement Mwila has cautioned male teachers in the area to avoid engaging in intimate relationships with female pupils.

Mr. Mwila said teacher-pupil romantic relationships are not only unprofessional but also detrimental to the personal development of the pupils involved.

ZANIS reports that Mr. Mwila said this during his interactive meeting with the newly recruited teachers at Kapalala Combined School.

He stated that most pupils in the area come from vulnerable homes hence teachers should guard against enticing them with material things.

“You are here to impart knowledge to these pupils not to disrupt their academics. Dating the girl child should not even cross your mind. This is a small community and stories easily spread. You would not want to lose your integrity over a young girl,” he said.

Mr. Mwila also called on teachers to be diligent in their execution of duties in order for the learners to produce good results, noting that getting higher education bursaries is easier if one has good grades.

Earlier, Kapalala Combined School Head Teacher, Misheck Chirwa, disclosed that the teacher-pupil ratio at the institution has improved following the deployment of more teachers to the school.

Mr. Chirwa added that the school has recorded an increase of over two hundred pupils following the introduction of the free education policy in January 2022.

“We are in the process of constructing a 1 by 2 classroom block to cushion the shortage of learning spaces. We also want to construct a science laboratory at our school,” he said.

Mr. Chiwra said the school has since applied to the Constituency Development Fund (CDF) committee to consider funding the projects and is currently waiting for feedback.
