Lightning kills woman in Kalomo

Lightning has killed a 27-year-old woman of Siakabizi village in chief Sipatunyana’s area in Kalomo district.

Police sources confirmed the development to ZANIS in Kalomo after receiving a report from the area.

Police said the lightning, which occurred around 20 hours yesterday, struck Njenene Sibbokolo and burnt her house goods.

By press time, the remains of the deceased were still lying in the village awaiting police decision before burial.

Some parts of Kalomo district yesterday evening experienced rains characterised by thunderstorms and lightning.

And in another development, thieves last night broke into the Kalomo district administration offices stealing valuable office equipment worth thousands of Kwacha.

Among the office items reported to have been stolen were, a Canon photocopier, HP monitor, HP Compaq CPU, an office chair and a microwave oven, all belonging to the district administration in Kalomo.

District Accountant, Nathan Mweene said the value of the stolen property is K38, 400.

No suspect has been arrested in connection with the burglary.
