ZAMSTATS exceeds target in Northern Province

he Zambia Statistics Agency (ZAMSTATS) in Northern Province has enumerated about 332,294 households in the just ended 2022 census of population and housing in the region.

Confirming the development to ZANIS in Kasama, ZAMSTATS Regional Statistician, Danny Muchimba, said this is out of the targeted 306,478 households listed during the 2020 mapping exercise.

Mr. Muchimba added that the province received an overwhelming response from the public and has since described the exercise as a success.

He attributed the success recorded in the exercise to the vigorous sensitisation campaigns conducted by the local leadership in various communities.

Mr. Muchimba has also thanked members of the public for the corporation rendered to the enumerators.

He said a number of people welcomed the exercise and were eager to be counted.

“A number of stakeholders that include the church and traditional leaders involved themselves in conducting awareness campaigns in communities when the exercise commenced. This has contributed to the smooth running of the census exercise,” he added.

Mr. Muchimba further said enumerators did their work normally without facing any major challenges from members of the public.

He has since expressed happiness that the agency has managed to beat its target at the end of the census exercise.
