The Zambia Statistics Agency in Northern Province says it has enumerated about 332,294 households in the just ended 2022 Census of Population and Housing in the province.
Confirming the development to ZANIS in Kasama, ZAMSTATS Regional Statistician, Danny Muchimba says this is out of the targeted 306,478 households listed during the 2020 mapping exercise.
Mr Muchimba adds that the province received an overwhelming response from the public and has since described the exercise as a success.
He attributed the success recorded in the exercise to the vigorous sensitisation campaigns conducted by the local leadership in various communities.
Mr Muchimba has also thanked members of the public for the corporation rendered to the enumerators.
He said a number of people welcomed the exercise and were eager to be counted.
“A number of stakeholders that include the church and traditional leaders involved themselves in conducting awareness campaigns in communities when the exercise commenced saying this has contributed to the smooth running of the census exercise,” he added.
Mr Muchimba further said that enumerators did their work normally without facing any major challenges from members of the public.
He has since expressed happiness that the agency has managed to meet its target for the region.
