K 14 million CDF funds approved for Kapiri

Government has approved over K 14 million of the 2022 Constituency Development Fund (CDF for disbursement for Kapiri Mposhi Constituency.

The  grant applications from cooperatives and clubs and projects were received from all the 18 wards in the Constituency.

Kapiri Mposhi Town Council Public Relations Officer, Chris Mulaliki has confirmed in an interview on Wednesday adding that  the 37 community based projects in 18 wards have been approved amounting to K 12,716,550.

” The Minister of Local Government Honourable Garry Nkombo has approved empowerment grants and community projects under the 2022 CDF for Kapiri Mposhi District and members of the public are advised access lists of successful beneficiaries of grants at the Council or the office of the Member of Parliament,” Mr Mulaliki said. 

The funding approval will among others facilitate for the  construction of a mortuary cold room at Kapiri Mposhi Urban Clinic, drilling of boreholes and provision of 19 mechanized water schemes to improve access to clean and safe water for rural communities. 

Other  projects include construction of a clinic in Kabowa and  five health posts and construction of a one by three classroom block and staff houses at Fibunde Community School , among others.

” The projects to be funded are mainly in education, health and water and sanitation,” Mr Mulaliki explained.

The Town Council Public Relations Officer added that disbursement of K 1,953,200 as empowerment grants to 64 youths and women clubs, associations and cooperatives has also been approved.

The development will enable beneficiaries venture into various businesses and Income Generating Activities such as cooking oil processing, poultry and fish farming and goat rearing, among others.

The Local Authority will soon disburse funds for empowerment grants while community projects will be tendered in line with the Public Procurement guidelines.
