A 60-year-old man of Kainamfumu resettlement scheme in Solwezi district has died after allegedly being bitten by a pig.
The incident is believed to have happened on October 19, 2022 in the morning as the deceased was feeding the animals at the farm.
North-Western Province Deputy Commanding officer, Robison Moonga has confirmed the incident and identified the deceased as Admore Mpalata, a caretaker at the farm.
He disclosed that Mpalata is suspected to have been bitten by a pig as he had sustained cuts on the right thigh and private parts and was bleeding severely.
“Kapijimpanga police post received a report on 19 October 2022 from Kenneth Kangumu aged 58 of Kandundu extension that his cousin Admore Mpalata aged 60(a caretaker) of Kainamfumu scheme farms in Solwezi is suspected to have been killed after being bitten by a pig, ” Mr Moonga said.
Mr Moonga said the body of the deceased has been deposited at Solwezi general hospital mortuary awaiting postmortem while an inquiry has been opened in the matter.
And in a related development, an unidentified man of Wisdom compound in Solwezi district has been found dead in his house in unclear circumstances.
Mr Moonga confirmed that police found the body of a man in decomposed state after receiving a report from the neighbours.
The incident is believed to have happened between October 14 and 19 2022 in wisdom compound.
“Acting on the report, police rushed to the scene and found that the deceased was in a semi decomposed state lying on his bed in the house he was renting, whose door had to be forced open,” Mr Moonga said.
He said relatives to the deceased have not yet been identified, but the body has been buried in a shallow grave because of its decomposed state.
