Chililobombwe man murdered over charcoal

A 57-year-old man of Kamenza forest in Chililabombwe district has been beaten to death by three men who accused him of stealing their charcoal.

Copperbelt Province Police Commanding Officer, Peacewell Mweemba, disclosed that two suspects Leonard Malipenga, 22 and Julius Simbeye have since been arrested while the third one is on the run.

Mr. Mweemba said the three suspects allegedly used bamboo sticks to beat the deceased, Rabson Mufwankole.

“We received a report of murder which occurred on December 3, 2022 around 23:30 hours in Kamenza forest Chililabombwe in which John Lwambula, 42 years, of Kamenza forest Chililabombwe reported that his elder brother Rabson Malichupa, aged -57 years of Kamenza forest Chililabombwe, a peasant farmer was beaten to death by three gentlemen who alleged that he stole their Charcoal,” he said.

The body of the deceased has since been deposited to Kakoso hospital mortuary awaiting post-mortem and burial.

Mr. Mweemba said the police have launched a manhunt for the suspect on the run.
