COVID-19 has taken 40 lives in Kasempa so far 

More than 40 people have died in Kasempa district in North-western Province since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Kasempa District Disease Surveillance Officer (DSO) Gershom Chisenga says over 33,000 people have since been vaccinated.

Currently there is one case of COVID-19 patient pending recovery in the Isolation centre at Kabisonga mini hospital and described the condition as stable.

Mr. Chisenga revealed this when North-western Province Minister Robert Lihefu visited Kabisonga Mini Hospital.

This was part of the minister’s spot check of the availability of medicine on health facilities and COVID-19 situation in Kasempa district.

“Allow me to give a summary of the COVID-19 situation in Kasempa district…we have more patients coming in the Isolation centre and we have one case that is active in the community pending recovery…the patient is stable.

” Since the beginning of COVID-19 in the district we have tested a total number of 38,502, ” he said.

The tested people have a cumulative total positive that have reached 3,823 positive cases.

Recoveries have reached 2,980.

And Mr. Lihefu has commended the Ministry of health for the tremendous effort in the fight against COVID-19.

Mr. Lihefu said Kasempa district has reached over 100% vaccination target.

” I would like to commend the ministry of health for the tremendous efforts that they have made in our facilities in Kasempa district.

“Pertaining to the Covid-19 pandemic, I am also happy that in Kasempa district they are above hundred percent in terms of vacation; this is commendable,” he said.
