Kaoma District has received 200 metric tonnes of relief maize for vulnerable communities in the area.
Kaoma District Commissioner, Muyambango Sheba confirmed the development in Kaoma today during a District Disaster Management and Mitigation meeting.
Mrs Sheba disclosed that the maize has been released by the Food Reserve Agency through the Vice President’s office.
She said the distribution will commence as soon as the committee advertises and identifies a project implementing partner to undertake the distribution exercise.
“Kaoma District has received 200 metric tonnes of white maize and we cannot start distributing now until we identify affected communities and a lead Non-governmental Organization-NGO to help with the distribution and an advert will be out soon,” she said. The District Commissioner said beneficiaries of the relief maize will be communities affected by calamities such as floods, inferno and other
vulnerable communities.
