SCT beneficiaries applaud govt.

Beneficiaries of the Social Cash Transfer (SCT) programme in Chinsali district in Muchinga Province has applauded government for being up to date with the 2022 payments.

And some beneficiaries are optimistic that payments for this year will be released on time as was the case last year.

Loyce Mumba, a Social Cash Transfer beneficiary, says the commitment shown by the government to pay the SCT beneficiaries on time is a clear indication of the authority’s good will.

Ms. Mumba says receiving funds on time has helped her household plan properly and effectively.

“We have been able to plan well knowing that money will be paid as scheduled.” She said.

And another beneficiary Janet Lukonde of Kabuta area thanked the government for the timely payments.

Ms. Lukonde says the government has cleared all payments that were budgeted for in 2022.

She expressed confidence that this year, they will receive their payments on time.

“I am very sure that even this year, funds will be released on time for onward payments to clear the first bi-monthly payment.” Said Ms. Lukonde.

Meanwhile, Provincial Social Welfare Officer Jacob Miti says his department has concluded paying the beneficiaries except for two who should be concluding anytime.

Mr. Miti says Mpika and Lavushimanda are the two districts that are summarising the payment exercise.

He says all the six bi-monthly payments planned for last year have been paid for by the government.

The Provincial Social Welfare Officer further says the province has added 11,000 more beneficiaries to the programme.
