United Party for National Development (UPND) Muchinga Provincial Coordinator, Frederick Chimeya says political violence in the year 2023 should be denounced by all well-meaning citizens.
Mr Chimeya said political violence has the potential to bring disunity in the country if it continues to be embraced by some political cadres.
Speaking to ZANIS in a telephone interview in Chinsali today, Mr Chimeya stated that youths who are mostly victims of such vices should completely desist from being used as tools of violence.
He said the younger generation should concentrate on utilising the various youth empowerment programmes that Government is providing for them.
Mr Chimeya said political violence is a set back to the process of achieving the developmental agenda by Government, as it is characterized by confusion which slows down the development process.
“President Hakainde Hichilema’s administration means well for the people of Zambia and will not tolerate any forms of political violence prior to the 2026 General elections,” he added.
Mr Chimeya further called on politicians to use professional platforms when conducting checks and balances.
He noted that a mature way of doing politics should be the right approach other than perpetrating violence which results in the loss of innocent lives.
And Mr Chimeya further called on Youths in the province to rally behind President Hichilema’s development policies as most of them are youth empowerment oriented.
He said youths are the future leaders that should utilize the good policies being implemented by Government through active participation in national matters of development.
