A 30-year-old man from Banamwaze area in Chief Chilyabufu’s area in Itezhi -Tezhi district, has defiled a 10-year-old girl who is a grade two pupil at a named school.
Itezhi-Tezhi Member of Parliament, Twaambo Mutinta has confirmed the incident to ZANIS, which happened when the victim was on her way to school.
Mr Mutinta explained that the incident happened last week when the victim who was on her way to school, was attacked and defiled by the suspect who lives in the neighborhood.
“The last two days we received a disturbing story involving a grade two pupil who was defiled by a man believed to be 30 years old. The girl was walking to school when a man grabbed her and defiled her in the bush,” he said.
He said the girl had bruises on her private parts but managed to reach school where she informed the teacher, who later reported the incident to the Itezhi-Tezhi Police Station.
Mr Mutinta further said the named suspect was apprehended by the neighborhood Police in Banamwaze area, but escaped when they arrived at the Banamwaze plain.
He added that Police has since launched a manhunt for the suspect.
