Solwezi council threatens to raze down dilapidated Booths

Solwezi Municipal Council has warned  business personnel in Solwezi whose booths and makeshift shops are dilapidated to remove them before the Council swings into action.

Solwezi Municipal Council Town Clerk Kabombo Mutakela said the local authority will remove booths and containers dotted around the Central Business District (CBD) which do not have council approval.

He said booths and makeshift shops that are dilapidated and not up to standards as provided for by the respective service providers are advised to remove them to avoid inconveniences.

”The local authority is therefore calling on all booths and container owners to register their businesses with the municipality,” he said.

Mr Mutakela said it is a legal requirement that everyone who owns a booth or a container should have it registered.

Meanwhile the Town Clerk has also advised booth operators with standard booths to pay for them.
