The Finnish Government has praised Zambia’s investment climate saying it is conducive for foreign businesses to thrive in.
Finnish Ambassador to Zambia Saana Halinen has disclosed that Zambia is the first choice destination for businesses world over.
Speaking at a media briefing ahead of the Finland Business week, the envoy said more Finnish firms have applied to set up businesses in Zambia, compared to any other destination.
She said ten Finnish business firms specialized in various fields, which include forestry, circular economy, renewable energy, agriculture and education will be in the country for the fifth annual business week slated for February 23 to February 24, 2023.
And Ms. Halinen says Zambia’s projected Gross Domestic Product (GDP) growth for this year of over three percent is encouraging.
She also said the kwacha is currently stable, which is a positive sign for the country’s economic outlook.
The Ambassador also expressed pleasure with the debt restructuring process that Zambia has embarked on, although she is hopeful that it can be concluded in the quickest possible time.
Speaking at the same event, Business Partnership Expert for Accelerated Growth for SMEs in Zambia (AGS) which is a Finland government funded programme, Anna Erkkila said 45 partnerships between Finish and Zambian firms have already been established.
And AGS Chief Technical Advisor Gareth Evans said the Finland Business week will also launch a circular economy market study.
