President Hakainde Hichilema says government appreciates the role of traditional leaders in national development and will continue working with them to serve the citizenry better.
President Hichilema said government not will not be selective or discriminatory to any traditional leader in the country.
The President said this when Paramount Chief Mwata Kazembe of the Lunda people in Mwansabombwe District, paid a courtesy call on him at Community House.
The Head of State commended the Mwata Kazembe for discharging his duties well, urging the traditional leader to continue advising government when need arises.
And the President emphasized that government will closely work with all traditional leaders without exception and segregation because they have firsthand information on issues affecting the people.
“As your government, as the people’s government, we will work with you without being selective, discriminatory or segregation will not be obtained under this leadership,” President Hichilema stated.
President Hichilema said he is ready to receive counsel from the traditional leader and hopes for enhanced relationship.
The Head of State noted that the interactions with the Mwata Kazembe will only be based on issues affecting his subjects, but also challenges affecting other traditional leaders as they interact on a regular basis.
And Paramount Chief Mwata Kazembe expressed gratitude to the President for being granted a chance to meet him as he was on his way to Mwansabombwe after attending the Ncwala Traditional Ceremony in Eastern Province.
