Mutomboko organisers seek K900, 000 for ceremony

Preparations for the hosting of the Mutomboko traditional ceremony of the Lunda people of Mwata Kazembe in Mwansabombwe district, Luapula province have officially been launched.

The Midlands Mutomboko Committee, who are the fundraising team for the ceremony announced that the Mutomboko which will take place on July 29, 2023 will be preceded by a fundraising golf tournament on May 12th, 2023.

ZANIS reports that Midlands Mutomboko Committee Vice Chairperson Muma Lumpa revealed that the golf tournament which will be graced by President Hakainde Hichilema is part of the fundraising events to meet the proposed budget of K900, 000 needed to successfully host the ceremony.

Mr Lumpa called on stakeholders to come on board and participate in the preparations of the ceremony which is symbolic as it also marks 25 years of Mwata Kazembe the 19th on the throne.

And Zanaco bank donated K150, 000 towards the cultural event, and further pledged to continue supporting cultural preservation.

The Committee also thanked cooperating partners such as NATSAVE, PESKAR Energy, Wiltons and Mwaba Mwila Adventures, among others, who have come on board, to offer support towards the successful hosting of the traditional ceremony.
