Ngabwe Council to drill 40 boreholes

Ngabwe Town Council has approved the drilling of 40 boreholes across the District.

Council Public Relations officer Christopher Habukali said the intention is to address the water challenges that should meet the growing population of the district.

Mr Habukali said in a statement availed to ZANIS that the project is part of the approved budget under the 2022 Constituency Development Fund (CDF).

He cited the areas earmarked to receive boreholes as Chitambo , Lwamala, Mukubwe,Chisanga, Chisangwa, Iwonde, Chilwa and Ngabwe ward.

He emphasized that access to clean water is key in fighting diseases like Cholera, trachoma and other diseases caused by poor sanitation.

He described most existing boreholes as old and dilapidated and that many cannot meet the growing demands for clean water.
